Bell's Palsy is a form of facial paralysis resulting from the damaging of facial nerve that controls muscles on one side of the face. This causes that side of the face to droop. Often the eye in the affected side cannot be closed. The eye must be protected from drying up, or the cornea may be permanently damaged resulting in impaired vision.
Dr. Peter Zhou has an outstanding reputation for treating Bell's Palsy quickly and effectively. Over the past 15 years in Vancouver, he has had a success rate of over 95% when treating patients with Bell's Palsy. It's recommended that patients with Bell's Palsy be treated as soon as possible to prevent any permanent damage to the facial appearance as well as the cornea.
According to my GP & specialist, I had Bell's Palsy. One morning I got up and half of my face was numb. One of my eyes looked smaller, and practically half of my face was immobile. I was shocked. My eyes kept getting dried up, as I couldn't blink. I had to use tear eye drops many times a day, or close my eye, which was very irritating. At night, I had to use a patch to keep my eye completely closed so as to not dry out. I started improving night after the first seesion of acupuncture. After a day or two, I had no more problems with my eye, and only after a week, nobody could even notice the difference in the left side of my face. After about 2 weeks, it recovereed to alsmot 100%, but continued the treatments to stabilize the improvements in my condition. This was my first acupuncture experience and I highly believe in it. I had a wonderful experience!
I was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy which meant that the right side of my face had lost muscular control. I experienced ear pain, my right eye would close and as a result would tear constantly, the right side of my mouth wouldn’t move and it was difficult for me to talk and impossible to smile. This was both a scary and frustrating time. After about 10 days without seeing any improvement in my symptoms, I decided to see Dr. Zhou, whom I have discovered specialized in treating this illness. After 5 sessions/treatments with Dr.Zhou over the course of two weeks – my symptoms had completely disappeared, much to my surprise and delight. Thanks so much for your help and care.
A few weeks ago, I suddenly felt I couldn't control my left face movement. When I smiled, only the right side muscle could lift as usual; when my mouth was plumped, some gas would leak out; when I blinked, my left eye couldn't close. Though all the symptoms were not so serious, I felt it influenced my regular living badly. I didn't know the exact name of this illness, but I knew the best treament on this was acupuncture. So I came to Dr Peter Zhou. Only treated twice, I felt improved obviously. At the initial stage, frequenct treatment was very important so I went to clinic every two days. After six times treatments, I almost recovered. However, I need a couple more treatments to make sure everything goes perfect.
It's my first time to receive acupuncture. Frankly, I felt a little nervous at first, but Dr. Peter zhou's perfect skills and patience made me relax and the results made me so happy.
My daughter Haley was diagnosed with "Bells Palsy" by our family doctor. We were told there was no treatment availabe and that we should go home and wait. Haley had completely lost control of the muscles on the left side of her face. After the second treatment with Dr. Zhou, she could move her face a little, and it improved with each treatment. The improvement was simply amazing, and now she has regained 100% of her muscle control!(Even the western doctors said we could expect at least a 15% loss of muscle control.) Dr. Peter's treatments have been wonderful and have opened our minds to different ways of healing. He is a kind, sweet and gentle man who makes one feel safe when in his care. Haley is 12 years old and never once complained about any of the treatments. There was never once any pain or bleeding. We are so grateful to Dr. Zhou for giving us our daughter's beautiful smile back, and we will recommend him to everyone we can.
